Bakuriani

Bakuriani – a small village in the Borjomi Gorge, in the same where from where the famous mineral wate. The famous ski resort located at an altitude of 1700 m, surrounded by mountains, alpine meadows and thick pine forests. Local people call this place – “Solar Valley”.

The road from Borjomi to Bakuriani serpentine twists along the shore of the river Borzhomula climbing higher and higher into the mountains. Distance from Borjomi to Bakuriani – about 35 km. Can get there either by car or on a small narrow gauge train, the so-called ” cuckoo”, which is sent from Borjomi and slowly crawling on the snowy and majestic mountains of the Lesser Caucasus.

Here are well developed as a winter and summer tourism. In Soviet times, Bakuriani is a traditional venue for the competitions in winter sports: slalom, bobsled, biathlon and ski jumping. Bakuriani is a great place for a family holiday where you can first put the children on skiing and ice skating, sledding and snowmobiling, horseback riding to make exploring the surrounding area. Also here you can do trekking to nearby slopes, or walking on the cross-country skiing to the pass Tskhratskharo (13 km from the village, elevation 2780 m).
